Facebook, the world’s most popular social network, provides ample means of staying in touch with others. You can check out a friend’s status update, you can share links, photos, and other content with a friend, you can send a message to a friend, you can poke a friend, you can chat in real-time with a friend. When all these socializing options are not enough, when you need to talk to someone face to face, then you can turn to Facebook Video Calling.

Facebook’s video calling services have been around for a few years. I remind you that Facebook launched its video calling services back in July 2011. Facebook’s technology partner for this sort of functionality is Skype, which was acquired by Microsoft, also in 2011 – in October 2011 to be more precise.

Facebook Video Calling works with Microsoft’s Windows operating system and with Apple’s Mac OS X.
On Windows, Facebook Video Calling works with the following web browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Opera.
On Mac OS X, Facebook Video Calling works with the following web browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, Opera.

A one-time setup must be completed before you can use Facebook Video Calling. Or to put it in other words, you will have to install a plug-in before you can start using Facebook Video Calling. Please note that the friend you want to talk to also needs to install Facebook Video Calling.

If you have a webcam and microphone and if your friend also has a webcam and microphone, you can both see and hear each other. If your friend does not have a webcam and microphone, he will be able to see and hear you, but you won’t get to see and hear him. Surely, you get how this works and I don’t need to explain it any further.

If you have any problems figuring out how Facebook Video Calling works, visit this section of the Help Center. It contains ample information on how to set up video calling, how to stop specific people from calling you, how to end a video call, and so on.

Obviously, you will need a Facebook account to use Facebook Video Calling. You can easily, quickly, and conveniently sign up for a Facebook account.

Talk to your friends and see them at the same time. Thanks to Facebook Video Calling you can talk to all your Facebook friends face to face.

Pros

Facebook Video Calling works with Windows and Mac OS X; it is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Opera, and Safari. A one-time setup must be completed before you can use Facebook Video Calling.

Cons

None that I could think of.
